Reporting directly to the Associate Purchasing Director, the purpose of this role is to establish and maintain timely and commercially viable supply chains for new product development and the existing portfolio of products. MAIN DUTIES: • To actively be involved with the New Product Program including creation of project briefs including all technical, aesthetical specifications and relevant test standards. Each project brief is to be directly supported with commercial briefs. The buyer should be able to carefully project manage the introduction of key agreed projects through to fruition within agreed timescales. • Responsible for identifying, appraising and bringing to fruition key strategic partners who are capable of producing high quality products at a highly competitive price in direct support of the New Product Program as well as providing additional capacity supporting existing product ranges. • Responsibility for handling at least two key strategic existing partners. This will need careful managing of stock and forward orders ensuring these are kept within agreed budgets, stock turn ratios, minimum stock outs and qualitative controls. • In partnership with Sales Director you will be responsible for managing stock across all suppliers to ensure availability is achieved in line with sales forecasts. • Ability to demonstrate strong negotiation skills and develop key partners with existing or new suppliers to including the management of any price increase requests and contract negotiation. • To be able to write supplier specific commercial agreements that adhere to legal and company standards. • Responsible for implementing key cost production programs identified with Associate Purchasing Director, this will include negotiation with suppliers.
